 Susan RankinBorn in Saskatchewan in 1959, and currently residing in Apsley, Ontario, Sue graduated from Sheridan College in 1989. After graduating she received a three year artist in residence at the Harbourfront Centre glass studio, in Toronto. She is part of a very recent generation of glass artists who, focused their attention on glassblowing and solid bit work. Her passion for these exacting techniques has enabled her to develop an astonishing virtuosity.
An artist who constantly upgrades her skill level by attending courses, she has attended summer workshops at Pilchuck Glass School and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in the U.S. Susan has participated in exhibition in the USA, Japan and throughout Canada. Her work is part of the renowned glass collection of the Corning Museum, NY, the Claridge Collection in Montreal, Quebec, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Regina, Sask. and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has won numerous awards and has been published in the "New Glass Review" (USA `91 ,`96) and "A Treasury of Canadian Craft" (Canada and Japan `92). |
