Richard’s favourite woods are the local Canadian varieties, including box elder, maple, walnut, oak and cherry. Most often he will finish a piece in a way that highlights the grain to the fullest. Other times he will use colour to accentuate the shape and/or texture of the turning. All Richards’s turnings are finished with food-safe polyurethanes and waxes so the functional bowls can be used over and over with just a little tender, loving care.
