Arte Vargas

Working from his studio in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Daniel creates his distinctive art glass. A glass blower for over forty years, Daniel is following in the footsteps of his father who taught him the art at the age of eleven. Originally from Mexico where he lived in the artisan colony of Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Daniel came to Canada in 1976 and was the first glass blower in British Columbia. Daniel’s work references the great glass blowing traditions of Italy and Mexico. Classic shapes are given iridescent, fumed finishes for a distinct Art Nouveau style.
